The Elizabethtown Area High School’s annual May Day is a day for students to take their learning outside of the classroom. On May Day, students serve the community and foster school spirit through a full day celebration of the school year coming to an end. It will be held on May 13 this year, and students will participate in volunteer hours in the morning, and fun activities in the afternoon. No Keystone testing or AP Exams will be held on this day.
Students will be able to choose their volunteer location for the morning: options include volunteering at elementary schools, visiting the Ronald McDonald House, weeding and gardening at Wittel Farms, planting flags at local cemeteries, and cleaning the Bainbridge walking trail.
Another volunteer group will be going to the Community Cupboard of Elizabethtown. These students will be delivering materials from a hygiene drive that the High School is organizing from April 26 to May 13.
Sign-ups for these volunteer options will open on April 26. Students should sign up quickly so they can participate in the service opportunity they’re most interested in.
Hotdogs, hamburgers, chips, drinks, etc. will be provided for free midday. Students will be able to eat outside and may pack their own lunches if preferred.
In the afternoon, students will be able to move freely from activities such as playing board games, watching a movie, and playing sports like tennis and indoor volleyball. After this free time, all students will regroup in the auditorium to watch the student and faculty Talent Show. Students are encouraged to donate items such as shampoo and conditioner, toothpaste, toilet paper, and body wash for the Community Cupboard. All donations should be dropped off in the box in the main lobby. Students interested in trying out for the talent show should sign up outside the main office.
