Following Mrs. Ahern’s official retirement on March 8th, Mr. Templin, former high school learning support teacher, assumed the position of Athletic Director at EAHS. The Elizabethtown Expression sat down with him and asked a few questions regarding what he is planning to do in his new role.
Mr. Templin said that a few of his goals for the athletic department are to increase student involvement, give students as many opportunities to participate in whatever extracurriculars they are interested in, and continue to grow the athletic department as a whole.
Before he was the athletic director, Mr. Templin was a learning support teacher at the high school where he co-taught Algebra I and Algebra II, along with coaching the high school baseball team. One of the aspects of his old job that he misses most is being able to interact with kids on a daily basis. He also misses the “a-ha” moment a teacher gets when they realize that the students they were trying to teach finally understand a certain topic.
If Mr. Templin had one million dollars to spend on the athletic department, he said that the first thing he would do with the money is use it to turf the football field.
