It’s that time of year again! As our fall sports season reaches the end of its term, it’s time to discuss the stats. Our fall sports teams at EAHS have been hard at work, with some impressive results. As of October 15, here is how our teams are doing: Our football team currently is at 3-5 this season. Boys soccer is at 8-7-1, while girls soccer is at 9-7-1. Girls tennis stats are 4-9. The boys cross-country team is at 4-6, while the girls cross-country team has 8-2. Girls volleyball is at 12-2. Field hockey has had 7-11. Golf is 16-14. Congratulations to all the teams!

The Expression spoke with members of a few of the teams to hear their thoughts on the season, and what they expect for the future:

We reached out to girls soccer player Brieal Frey (Sophomore) and asked her about the season. “Honestly, it’s been a good season. We were lucky to start our season without having any major injuries. Last year, we were adjusting to a new coach, but now we've settled down and our main focus was to make it to districts. Next year, I’m looking to see how far we can go, and we’re excited for new middle schoolers to come up and show us what they’ve got.”

We asked Jake Sevcik, a senior on the boys soccer team, to tell us a little bit about his season. His reply: “It's been going well - we've hit a couple of bumps in the road, but we've got one more game, and we have a good shot at districts if we win. We just have to be prepared and focused. . . It feels surreal to be a senior on the team this year, but it's been really fun leading the team and seeing them grow. . . I hope the team continues to work hard in the offseason, and I hope they stay positive.”

Senior Lauren Duffit provided us with some feedback regarding her season with the girls cross-country team. She said, “The season went well! We finished 8-2, and, considering we lost a lot of our top eight runners last year, we are very happy with these results. Next year we need to work on pushing our developing runners and getting them to reach their highest potential. It feels bittersweet finishing my last season with the team; I'll miss team running but I know the team has a lot of great things ahead of them!”

Sophomore Riley Runnels was able to share with us some comments about the EAHS football team’s season. “The season began with a rough start, but we're picking it up and the guys have some fire with them. Everyone is setting their sights high for the rest of the season.”

We had a chance to chat with senior Araya Fahnestock, who plays for the girls tennis team. She stated, “I felt that the season went well; we had a very strong team and also had a good building team on JV. I think next year we need to work on having strong and confident players. It feels extremely odd to no longer belong on a high school team. But it’s also a relief to know I finished and I finished well.”
