With Chanukah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, Boxing Day, and other celebrations just around the corner, schedules are packed, and the roads are hectic. Staying safe during the holiday season, especially while driving, is important. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the U.S. Department of Transportation, there are more traffic-related deaths and collisions around holidays than any other time periods. This connection is clearly no accident, so practicing safe driving and awareness is very important to arriving at your holiday destination unscathed.

Along with the dropping of the ball in Times Square and the consumption of certain foods on religious grounds, many people wish to begin their year with New Year’s resolutions, a chance for people to self reflect on the previous year and work toward self improvement. Here at Elizabethtown Area High School, we have no shortage of students who take part in this annual tradition.
By: Jared Alvarez Staff Writer The Whisk Cafe seems to be exactly what Elizabethtown needed. I first had a chance to visit on a bitter cold morning a mere three days after they opened. I met a friend for coffee and breakfast. It was 6:30, and the place was nearly empty. A waiter sat us just beside the main door and in front of the to-go counter, a fine spot until the morning rush began. People were in and out of the door just behind us, leaving us washed in a blast of cold air.

Or should we call it Black Thursday, Friday, and Monday? After all, many stores begin their sales on Thanksgiving day, rather than waiting until Friday, and others have extended the festivities to include the Monday after, calling it ‘Cyber Monday’. Stores across the nation announce their sales with great fanfare, encouraging consumers to shop to their hearts’ content.
