A few weeks ago Apple held a meeting announcing their new iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. The phones come in three different colors: Space Grey, Silver and Gold, and with different storage capacities, 64GB, 256GB, and 512GB. The cost of the iPhone XS Max starts at $1099, while the iPhone XS starts at $999.
I was able to get my hands on the iPhone XS in space grey with 64GB a few days after the release. When Apple released its iPhone X last year, it removed the home button, and the XS omits the button too. It took a little time to finally stop trying to hit the home button that wasn’t there, but eventually I kicked the habit and enjoyed the larger screen. Because the previous iPhones used the home button for screenshots, you now use the volume and power button to take screenshots. When getting used to the size of the phone accidental screenshots are inevitable.
There are an assortment of other small adjustments with the phone. The new phones are water resistant for 2 meters for up to 30 min, while the older iPhones were either water resistant for up to 1 meter for 30 min, or not water resistant at all. One downfall of the new phones is that the headphone jack still isn't there, but you can buy a pair of Airpods for $159. They are bluetooth earbuds, which I personally love. I bring my Airpods with me everywhere because they are convenient, and easy to use. If you don't want to spend the money on the Airpods, you don't have to: the iPhone XS comes with a pair of Earbuds that have the lightning port adapter, so you can plug them in where you charge your phone.
Some things could have made the new phone better than it is, such as a headphone jack or if there was a different way to take screenshots so your camera roll isn't filled with accidental screenshots of your lock screen/home screen. But I love the new phone a lot and I would recommend it to anyone who is considering getting a new phone.
