When you walk in Ella’s Place, you are immediately hit with its classic diner atmosphere. What struck me first was Ella’s comfortable style, with cushy chairs and cozy booths. The restaurant has an inviting atmosphere, where people of all ages can come for a wide variety of foods. The room is quiet, perfect for holding a pleasant conversation.
Two of the restaurant’s co-owners, Kim Sadowski and Rebecca Rashid, bring a diverse assortment of foods to the restaurant’s menu. Kim’s Pennsylvanian background contributes to local favorites such as sauerkraut and the Pittsburgh Salad. Rebecca’s Egyptian heritage adds something different to the mix, like gyros and falafel. Ella’s Place hosts graduation, wedding, retirement, and sports parties.
In regard to serving the community, Sadowski explains that they aim to “bring delicious home-cooked food and a good wholesome environment, to nourish the bodies, souls and spirits of this community.” With a tagline of “Where the best food and memories are made,” it’s clear that Ella’s Place keeps the community in mind.
Ella’s Place offers an eclectic mix of menu items, including salad, sandwiches, burgers, wraps, paninis, steaks, stir fry and seafood. They also have categories for children and senior citizens. While they offer many dinner options, they also serve breakfast food, such as omelettes and pancakes. With all these options, it’s easy to find something that piques your interest.
I chose to try Ella’s Favorite College Wrap Special after taking a look at the menu. The wrap came with chips. The ingredients in this wrap included chicken fingers, barbecue sauce, pepper jack and cheddar cheese, and onion. Part of the reason I tried this was because I was intrigued by the contents. I was pleasantly surprised by how the flavors blended together. The resulting mixture of the chicken and barbecue sauce reminded me of something you’d eat during the summer at a barbecue picnic. I enjoyed and appreciated the combination of flavors. While unique, the wrap could easily become a popular classic at Ella’s Place.
Overall, I would recommend Ella’s Place to anyone looking for a homey dining experience and a wide selection of comfort food items.
